Tanto per cominciare “SI PUO’ FARE!!!”. Io al momento ho solo un interesse molto limitato alla cosa, voglio solo applicare effetti in tempo reale alla chitarra registrare quello che suono e magari mixarci sopra qualcosa più avanti (quando ho capito come si fa). Tenete presente che Io Non Sono Un Guru (INSUG) e questa non si sogna di essere una guida (se vedete qualche vaccata siete pregati di segnalarmelo), ma solo la trascrizione di quelle che sono le mie esperienze da profano nella registrazione, il mixaggio e la produzione musicale usando software libero (o quasi se riesco provo a usare anche i pluggin vst).

Il primo problema da superare è quello della cattura del segnale della chitarra. Le schede audio da riproduzione integrate e non, sono fatte per produrre suoni più o meno fedelmente per film, musica o tutt’al più videogiochi, la parte adibita alla registrazione di segnali esterni è a malapena sufficiente per recuperare l’audio da un vecchio vinile o per fare un karaocchio un po’ scadente!

Il secondo problema è che il segnale che esce dalla chitarra è ad alta impedenza, mentre i minijack delle schede audio sia per il line in che per il microfono sono a media/bassa impedenza. Questa differenza provoca una perdita delle tonalità medie e alte dello strumento risultando in un suono piatto e smorto, per una breve spiegazione ed esempi con tanto di file audio andate qui. Per risolvere questo problema bisogna utilizzare un pre-amplificatore (come una pedaliera multi-effetto con uscita cuffia o addirittura presa usb) o una periferica apposita come il Behringer guitar link UCG102, il Line6 toneport gx o l’ M-audio fasttrack.

Io ho scelto il Behringer, perchè il supporto della periferica da parte dei dirver usb-audio è documentato, mentre il fasttrack sembra non funzionare proprio e il Line6 ha un progetto per dei driver, ma sembrano ancora in alto mare e molto rischiosi(se avete avuto esperienze positive con queste o altre periferiche per favore segnalatelo). Il Behringer ha l’ulteriore vantaggio di costare “solo” ~€45, ma belin’!

Questa piccola periferica usb prende il segnale mono ad alta impedenza dallo strumento e lo manda all’elaboratore restituendo il segnale da un jack stereo da attaccare a delle cuffie o dei monitor attivi (nel mio caso l’entrata ausiliaria dello stereo). Lo svantaggio diquesto setup è che non sentirete lo suono uscire dalle normali casse del computer ma solo da quelle della periferica audio usb (credo sia possibile riroutare l’uscita con jack, ma il mio tentativo ha imballato la macchina).

Una volta collegata la periferica bisogna scoprire come è stata attivata dai driver alsa per poterla poi richiamare quando andiamo ad attivare i collegamenti con il “Jack Audio Connection Kit” che altro non è se non un server audio a bassa latenza (come asio per windows). Per scoprirlo uso l’opzione -l (list) di arecord che restituisce i dettagli delle periferiche audio disponibili, nel caso del mio protatile:

La parte che c’interessa è quella relativa alla periferica USB Audio che è stata registrata come card 2 quindi al momento di lanciare jackd (il demone del server jack) il nome del dispositivo audio sarà hw:2,0. La stringa di inizializzazione che uso io è la seguente:

Questi settaggi danno dei valori di latenza attorno ai 10 ms si possono abbassare anche sotto i 5 ms diminunuedo i frames/secondo ma il prezzo in cicli di cpu è pesante.

A questo punto fate partire qjackctl (Jack Control) e dal connector collegate l’ input con i 2 output e dovreste sentire il suono della vostra chitarra in cuffia ignudo come pick-up l’ha fatto!

Al prossimo giro scriverò di effetti plugin LADSPA e caratteristiche del segnale e degli amplificatori classici.

Ok so it is possible to record instruments and do music production under Linux. At the moment my main interest is to use my computer as a guitar preamp stompbox in real time, possibly record what I play and clean it up somewhat later. I Am Not A Guru (IANAG) and this doesn’t want to be a real guide, but just an account of my experience as I go along pursuing free (almost if I get windoze vst plugins going) software musical nirvana. If you see I get something wrong or have a better solution to what I’m trying (No, buy a Mac doesn’t count!), please comment and let me know.

The first issue when capturing an audio signal for music production is that the cards normally found on pcs are built for reproduction of games, movies and films and the capture part of the design leaves a lot to be desired and are barely adequate for converting those old mistreated vinyls lying in the cellar (You Criminal How Could You!) or a second rate Karaoke!

The second issue when capturing electric guitar audio signal directly from the instrument is that this is a high impedance signal and microphone and line-in jacks on your sound card are not. This results in a loss of the medium and high tones giving a dead and flat sound, for a good explanation with audio examples go here. To counter this problem you can either use a preamp (digital stompboxes have earphone jacks or even usb connectors) or a purpose built capture card such as the Behringer guitar link UCG102, the Line6 toneport gx or the M-audio fasttrack.

I personally chose the Behringer for two reasons: it’s cheap at €46 (yes I’m a stingy bastard), and more importantly because it’s documented to work with alsa’s snd-usb-audio driver.

What this little white usb box does is take the high impedance mono signal straight from the guitar, send it to the computer for processing and returns the resulting signal to a stereo output jack to be used with earphones or an active monitor system (I use the aux plugs on my lo-fi). The disadvantage of this is that you won’t hear the sound coming out of your regular pc speakers, although I think you can re-route the sound with Jack (more later), but a quick and clumsy attempt do so on my part resulted in a complete system freeze and lock-up.

Once everything has been properly connected, we need to find out how it’s been treated by the alsa drivers so we use arecord’s -l option to list all available capture devices (seed reading in Italian section), so we can set it up properly with the JACK (Jack Audio Connection Kit) deamon. As you see on my laptop it was registered as card 2 (you can tell because it’s the only one using the usb audio driver) so in jack it will be hw:2,0. The full activation code I use is the following:

Which can be set in the jack control utility (qjackctl) as in the screanshot:

This gives latency values around 10 ms and can be improved by lowering the frames/second value, but is expensive cpu wise.

At this point all you have to do is use qjackctl to connect the input channel of hte card to the two output channels as shown in Jack Control Connections Screen and you’ll be hearing your guitars sound just as mother pick-up meant it!

Next I’ll be talking about classic amp characteristics and applying effects in realtime.

If you have one of these toys and have difficulty accessing it via USB since an operating system update (ubuntu dapper to edgy did it for me and feisty did not fix it), this is how I got it to work again.

First off it won’t even start if you don’t follow the instructions I found on this French page of which I have copy/pasted the basic instructions:

at this point Restarting the X server should do the trick.

Now that getting it to start up in Dapper is covered (it may need some KDE or QT libraries or dev libraries to work, but I’m not sure), let’s talk about the issues what started happening from Edgy Eft onwards was that when I clicked on the username or password text entry the program crashed without so much as a whimper.

Now the way I got a fix is a little odd and unexplained:

Since doing this, it as started working normally, albeit throwing truckloads of errors and warnings and whatnot.

I hope someone finds this usefull!

Update: Nope it has not automagically fixed itself …

To make it work it must be run through DDD (or GDB) as root.

Non capisco cosa impedisca ai maintainers di ubuntu dapper drake di propagare patch di bachi ben noti e già risolti dai tempi di edgy eft a quella che dovrebbe essere la loro distribuzione con supporto tecnico a lunga scadenza, ma che razza di supporto è? Per fare un esempio c’è un baco in F-spot che non visualizza le foto rotate in portrait all’ acquisizione, che è stata ampliamente risolta, perché non renderla disponibile? Neanche un backport … non capisco … Da canto suo la feisty ha i suoi bei problemi, uno per tutti il nuovo, leggero ed apprezzabile sistema di indicizzazione di meta-dati tracker fa a pugni con l’ancora più apprezzabile barra multifunzionale deskbar-applet, Evolution da strani segni di squilibrio (continua a chedere le password di account di posta che conosce finche non gli dai annulla, invia e ricevi e poi va come se niente fosse).

Mi chiedo che fine ha fatto l’attenzione con cui si pacchettizzano i programmi e le librerie e soprattutto poi come le si mantengono. Che fine ha fatto il “tanti occhi=pochi bug” dov’è finita la leggendaria stabilità e sicurezza … Forse che con l’introduzione di eccessiva complessità nei sistemi non ci siano più le risorse umane per stargli dietro? Non lo so ma non mi piace.

P.s. se qualcuno e riuscito a far funzionare il sofware di collegamento usb del Lacie ethernet disk mini sotto fiesty sono tutto orecchi così upgrado la dapper sul portatile.

I’m an ubuntu user and before that I was a debian sid user and before that … ok you get it. I moved from sid to ubuntu when I started writing a program in python using wxpython libraries as a gui toolkit and sid threw in an API change like a spanner in my machinery and everything went pair shaped. I was not pleased matter of fact I was fuming, but I only had myself to blame as I was using an unstable branch to begin with. I moved on to Ubuntu because it froze APIs for predictable time-frames, had some nice sane presets for desktop use and it saved considerable time in customization for desktop use, plus it was debian, with a few bells and whistles. All was well breezy, was everything I expected from a desktop enhanced debian distro, sure it had it’s issues (cups for one), but there were very few distros that got it right at the time anyway.

Now move forward a year or so and with dapper on my laptop and feisty on my desktop machines I’m seeing things I really don’t like. Feisty has issues, evolution is throwing errors warnings and asking for passwords it knows instead of fetching mail and then proceeds to work without issues, but it’s still annoying (halleluja for the leave messages on pop server for x days, it was about time!), deskbar and tracker cause each other no end of grief and things just generally look and feel unpolished and untested … Dapper on the other is supposed to be the LTS super stable baby, and it kind of is, but it suffers from lack of attention in maintenance, for example F-spot has a bug that blanks out on pictures captured and set to landscape, it was fixed for edgy but it never made it back down to dapper, amsn port 80 specs were changed by Big M, and were fixed in a more recent version but they were never propagated down to dapper. So maybe these are small, marginal and anecdotal incidents, but they still anoy me to no end.

Maybe I’m just an old fart who should stop wanting to live on the bleeding edge and just move back to debian stable (which now corresponds a properly tested Dapper), I just don’t understand why they don’t fix things that, from the outside seem obvious and trivial. It doesn’t take a genius to know that if you fix a bug in a product your still supporting, you don’t tell people to upgrade to the next version where it’s fixed you propagate the patch downwards, not to is just so Microsoft!

Before you ask the reason why I’m still using Dapper on my laptop is that the linux software to connect to my lacie Ethernet mini external drive via usb quit working with edgy and still won’t work with feisty, and as much as i like wingeing I can’t complain about external apps not working (any suggestions would be well recieved).

Well the good news is that this being a democracy everyone is held to the same laws, the bad is well … we let terrorists roam our country unpunished …

On the main stream news the silence is deafening! 

I was reading yet another Linux distribution review where a well meaning self elected computer usability expert blurted something along the lines of the trite “As long as there is need for a command prompt, it will remain relegated to the experts” and all that jazz…

Then it suddenly hit me: what would happen if they suddenly removed all trace of the command prompt from Linux (obviously giving gui substitutes)?

To any techies and other *nix users: stop hyperventilating it’s all ok it was just a gedanken experiment, please start breathing again. Now to anyone used to Macs and Microsoft Osses (just how does one spell that?) the idea of using one is just laughable (I still maintain you havn’t lived in geekland until you’ve run start run cmd and raught spectacular havoc on a windows PC). But to any sysadmin, used to managing multiple servers text based, or even an advanced/expert *nix workstation desktop user, being deprived of the command prompt is akin to being dragged kicking and screaming out of the drivers seat of sports car plonked in the passenger seat gagged, with your hands bound firmly behind your back and given only a driver speaking a foreign language and smiling dumbly at you to drive the car.

I have to admit that not diving head first into an epic cavalcade on the power, beauty and glory of what can be achieved in textland is an heroic display of restraint on my part. Don’t get me wrong I’m in no way a super dooper shell script whizzbang leet man, but I fend for myself pretty well in prompt land and occasionally write my own little scripts when I find I’m victim to some new tedious daily IT housekeeping routine. Now if I were stuck without it, I’d be using half a gazillion graphical tools simultaneously to get my normal routine done while they eat all my memory and slow me down forcing me to jump from one to the other like a rabbit in a polygamous mating frenzy on speed. Kind of like the physical sensation of having my upper arms tied to my body when working with only one desktop instead of many, only worse.

So ok, sure I would never expect my mother to jump into a command prompt and edit a configuration file with vim. But then I wouldn’t even expect her to set up her internet connection, mail client or whatever else in windows or on a Mac. All I would expect her to do is use the darn things once I (or whatever other paid expertise for those with no astrogeeks in the bloodline) have configured it for her.

What I’m trying so misguidedly to convey here is that the command line is no mideval torture instrument to be unleashed on new and unsuspecting users, but rather, it is a blessing in plain clothes for all those people who have to do real technical tasks or deal with setting up these machines for those who can’t. So instead of treating it like some kind of necessary evil it would be appreciated if all those wet behind the ears, unlicensed review wielders and self professed usability experts and possibly even the more seasoned folks that actually do know what they’re talking about would please loose the command prompt-present=only for supergeeks argumentation, it just doesn’t stand.

L’altro giorno leggevo un altro di quelle inutili recensioni su una qualche distro GNU/Linux dove se ne pontificavano i nuovi passi in avanti per quanto riguarda interfacce, installazione, usabilità … insomma le solite per poi finire ancora una volta sul ancor più trito cliché che recita più o meno nelle sue innumerevoli declinazioni :”Linux non è ancora pronto per mia nonna con il parkinson e la demenza senile perché richiede ancora l’uso della riga di comando per alcune operazioni.”

Tanto per cominciare vorrei far notare che coloro i quali fossero dotati di “nonno internet” o qualsivoglia altra specie di utonto in famiglia, che suddetti utonti non saranno le persone che configurano l’elaboratore, ma si limiteranno a farne l’uso canonico sancito e benedetto dal loro parente smanettone di fiducia, che di solito (se lo smanettone ci tiene alla propria salute mentale) si limita a:

1. Utilizzo della posta elettronica.
2. Utilizzo della posta elettronica.
3. Utilizzo della posta elettronica.
4. Rari casi di lettura del sito di attivismo del quartiere.

Ora al di là dei facili umorismi è evidente che questa tipologia di utente non si occuperebbe mai in prima persona del genere di configurazioni che necessitano di riga di comando, ma neanche se fossero facilmente accessibili tramite una gui. Queste sono persone che vanno in panico quando il browser li avvisa che stanno per abbandonare una connessione criptata, altro che installare driver (per i quali ho dovuto eseguire cose ben più complicate di make && make install sotto altri sistemi proprietari).

Ma anche queste argomentazioni sono state usate allo schifo e ora che le ho reiterate per sicurezza posso parlare del pensiero veramente illuminante che ho avuto a riguardo: E se il terminale non esistesse? Se tutt’ a un tratto il nostro bel *nix facesse tutto con interfacce grafiche,  che ogni singolo comandino testuale avesse una bella interfaccina con tutte le sue opzioncine facilmente visibili ed usufruibili, cosa ne penseremmo? Come sarebbe?

Per tutti quelli che ne sanno a strapacchi e hanno cominciato ad iperventilare o trattenere il fiato presi da orrore e sconforto, calmatevi era solo una folle ipotesi per considerare la faccenda. Per quelli che pensano che non sarebbe, tutto sommato, una brutta cosa vi do un consiglio andate a cercare un tutorial, un introduzione qualsiasi anche di livello base e poi provate ad usare la shell (NO! Nonno internet TU NO!) spero che vi rendiate conto che vi si aperto davanti un mondo di spropositata potenza ed elasticità. Io non sono uno di quelli super duri che sputano sulle interfacce e trovano che un Xserver sia uno spreco imperdonabile di risorse, non sono di quelli che si nascondono in una conchiglia a scriver perle (lo so è orribile ma non ho resistito), però anche a me il potere della riga di comando a risolto tanti di quei mestieri ripetitivi e menosi, in maniera semplice pulita ed elegante, che solo l’idea di essere costretto a farne senza mi fa sentire come un amante di guida e macchine sportive costretto al posto del passeggero con miss Daisy che guida!

Insomma tutto questo popo di roba per dire smettetela di dire che il paradigma per l’utilizzabilità da parte di tutti di un sistema operativo è l’estinzione della riga di comando come se questa fosse un male assoluto, perché non è ne un male ne un ostacolo a questa utilizzabilità ormai osannata come il nuovo Feng Shuei, . Chi si spaventa al uso della riga di comando non è neanche capace di fare le stesse cose con l’ interfaccia grafica. Questi Chiamano lo smanettone di famiglia o pagano un tecnico!

Ok, so I’ve just about finished setting up a high availability fileserving cluster with automatic backups, I’ve finished menacing my lusers with a LART to make sure they make regular backups… I go sit at my desk start taking a look at my research, pick up the pieces where I left them before having to find someones lost password or miss-deleted files (no, sysadmins cannot pull destroyed and overwritten data out of thin air, even if some claim the contrary for bragging purposes) to make a long story short: Bang, fizzle, pffft! Yes, that was indeed my hard-drive … And yes I hear you, of course I have a backup … well … er sort of … I mean, come on october is pretty recent init?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrgh!

Fortunately I’m a lucky bastard and the screwed sectors were few and far between, I managed to regain most of my data … But boy have I learned a lesson through sheer terror …

On the bright side it gave a fantastic excuse to install ubuntu GNU/Linux fiesty fawn on the machine and I shall be telling you all about it and my new strategy for automated backups shortly on this space.

Dunque, come dire ho appena finito di “tirare a lucido” una bella coppia di serverini ridondati in alta affidabilità con sistemi di backup a prova di armageddon, ho svolto il quotidiano dovere di strigliamento dei miei utonti con particolare attenzione posta sull’utilità, no anzi sul dovere improrogabile che ciascuno ha di fare backup periodici numerosi e completi. Quand’ecco che mi rendo conto che la partizione principale della mia macchina elaboratore è montato in sola lettura contro la mia volontà … no non è semplicemente finito lo spazio … no, qualunque numero di interventi con fsck e quant’altro non cambia la situazione … il disco è brasato! Niente panico direte voi, tanto sicuramente TU di tutte le persone il backup l’hai fatto! … Si certo che l’ho fatto, cioè però … è che … nel senso … che cioè … risale a ottobre!

UUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

Va beh, ho capito me la sono cercata, però sono un fetente fortunato (FF), è un cp -a su un altro disco mi ha recuperato tutto ciò che c’era d’importante. Si è vero lo ammetto perché nessuno dei settori distrutti del disco contenesse dati importanti della mia home ho di /var/lib/mysql, mi sono fato sodomizzare da un eurostar e ho pure goduto.

La buona notizia è che questa disgrazia mi offre l’opportunità perfetta per installare la nuova ubuntu feisty fawn, della quale vi parlerò assieme alle nuove e violente strategie di backup che ho implementato.

ACC … PORC … Ma quanto mi hanno fatto incazzare con la rivolta contro la Polizia in Paolo Sarpi a Milano. Sono ancora più incazzato perché mi hanno portato a fare pensieri discriminatori e razzisti (quei “inserite epiteto razzista e dispregiativo qui” li voglio vedere impalati sui pennoni del Duomo!), poi mi sono ricordato che i veri razzisti violenti che non rispettano le libertà civili stanno in un altro pezzo del pianeta … Però non si può semplicemente condonare il comportamento di quelle persone, vorrei ricordare che per i tafferugli e i vandalismi di qualche mese fa in corso Buenos Aires sono state arrestate e messe in galera moltissime persone, questi fanno le vittime quando hanno creato una battaglia campale per le strade cittadine con un aggressione mirata alle forze dell’ordine, che ne paghino le conseguenze! Gira voce che la cosa fosse stata pianificata da tempo e che si aspettasse solo un pretesto.

C’è da dire che la situazione è stata mal gestita o meglio non gestita. Negli ultimi anni c’è stato un influsso migratorio immenso dal Asia e si è lasciato che ad occuparsene e ad assorbirla fosse la loro pre-esistente comunità con tutte le conseguenze che ne derivano ad esempio l’esplosione del lavoro sommerso e minorile con orari da campi di lavoro coatto, l’aumento di soggetti che non sono in grado di capire e comunicare in Italiano. Per questo che ci sono soggetti come un signore cinese che vive nel quartiere da molte decine di anni che intervistato ha detto “Io non sono così, io sono Italiano”. La comunità con questo nuovo influsso è diventata più chiusa e diffidente anche perché gli italiani sono più diffidenti nei loro confronti, c’è anche animosità per l’influsso di merce a basso costo e qualità che soppianta quella nostrana ed percepita come concorrenza sleale. In quel quartiere è stato lasciato nell’ anarchia troppo a lungo e ora si fanno rispettare le regole tutte di colpo è ovvio che ci siano delle tensioni, è segno di integrazione difendono i loro diritti acquisiti di abusivismo come i peggio italiani! Il problema adesso e rendere di nuovo vivibile quel quartiere per chi ci abita e ripristinare la legalità e non sarà facile. Certo è che agli illegali che lamentano la brutalità della polizia italiana sarebbe il caso di fargli presente che nel loro paese di provenienza certe cose sono gestite diversamente e pochi sono in vita a raccontarlo…

In case you don’t live in Italy the other day there was a riot in the Milanese Chinatown. Apparently the Chinese community in Milan is one of the biggest in Europe (hey TV said that, so it must be true!).

A little background information:

The area where this happens used to be and still is a normal residential area, where mainly Italian and Chinese families have always lived more or less peacefully and where the Chinese community has traditionally had it’s businesses (mainly import export wholesale). Over the years this community has grown immensely and slowly taken over most of the commercial real estate. The problem is that in this particular area streets are very narrow, there is close to no space to maneuver and they’re used by trams and other public transport. Now imagine all these wholesale dealers loading and unloading goods from dusk till dawn with trucks and trolleys speaking a foreign language and in some cases not being able (or not wanting) to speak Italian and you have a recipe for some very angry residents. Add to this that this community has a reputation for disregarding Italian legislation (they had setup their own banks and medical facilities without abiding any rules or regulations), being constituted by a large number of illegal immigrants (popular urban legend has it that no Chinaman ever dies they only get replaced) and that to all effects and purposes they have created their own getto and you have a pretty good picture. In all this, city administration, under pressured from residents, has decided to crack down hard on all illegal practices in the area starting from traffic regulation (loading of goods is only allowed at certain times and trolleys aren’t allowed on pubblic roads). The Chinese in best Italian spirit mistook the application of the law for the town council being discriminatory and vexing. So here’s what happened: A policewoman tried to fine a Chinese lady for illegal parking and loading of goods out of hours, when asked to present the vehicles documentation it also turned out that it hadn’t undergone mandatory revisions and when the policewoman declared that she had to cease the vehicles documents the lady protested vehemently and tens then hundreds of Chinese flooded the streets, assaulted police and turned the place into a third world student protest in which 14 police officers and 6 civilians were hurt. Later on in the day there was a full blown protest in which all traffic in the area was blocked and Chinese flags where were flown, all headed by the Chinese Consul General of Milan. Official statements were also released from Beijing! Tension had been raising for months and word of mouth has it that this protest was staged and premeditated.

When I read about this in the papers on my way to work, my blood boiled, I was livid I wanted these people hung, drawn and quartered! How dare they revolt against police for doing their job, how dare they claim discrimination when they are the most racist population on the planet, what darn right do they think they have to be above the law. I wanted to go and burn their shops down one by one, dag nam it! … Then I had an out of body experience and looking down on myself I thought “Oy, stop it you nazi idiot! Quit thinking those thoughts with my brain!”.

The truth is we have a problem and in Milan it was allowed to develop, probably to the point of no return. In Bologna they avoided it by not allowing them to concentrate all their busyness into a single area forcing them to integrate. The Chinese community is a closed one, strangers are not allowed in, they have their own rules and a very strong hierarchy, it needs to be made clear to their comunity leaders that they have to respect the rules, now more than ever so that the real illegality may be drawn out and dealt with (illegal immigration black market and minor labour etc), so that the hard working, tax paying citizens that only want to live here, work and bring up their kids as Italians may do so. The rest can be sent back and lets see if they still complain about Italian police brutality when their own deal with them Tien A Men style. (Whoops there goes the reactionary again),

I guess “Hello world!” is a perfect title for the first post of a nerdy techno-loving geek like myself, so we’ll leave it be, also because this is my first timid paddle into teh interweb as myself, posting MY opinions and thoughts.

So what is this going to be about? Just about anything that crosses my mind, from politics to science, technology to music, you name it we does it (with bad spelling, appalling grammar and worse syntax) .

I’ll try and keep this blog bilingual (no it’s not something sexual), I consider this important because it allows me to expresses the same thing in different ways and brings out cultural and linguistic subtleties that would otherwise be lost. But more importantly because the few friends I have only get one language and we don’t want to exclude any of them.

Beh lascio “hello world!” perché mi sembra perfetto per iniziare un blog in campo tecnico-scientifico anche se forse per l’italiano, visto le scuole di programmazione, “pippo” sarebbe stato più appropriato. Ma Hello World! è giusto anche perché questa e la mia prima avventura editoriale in campo internettistico, nel senso che per la prima volta mi propongo con le mie opinioni, pensieri e proposte in un sito mio, “ci metto la faccia”, nascosto dietro un alias ovviamente.

Di cosa si parlerà? Beh di tutto, dalla politica alla scienza, dalla technologia alla musica, chi più ne ha più ne metta insomma.

Cercherò di mantenere il tutto in doppia lingua perché lo considero importante, fa parte di me come persona, quindi mi adopererò per mantenerlo bilingue (anche perché quei quattro gatti di miei amici spesso o ne sanno una o l’altra e visto che son pochi non si esclude nisuni).
